&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.themorgan.org/exhibitions/exhibition.asp?id=62" target="_blank"&gt;Josef Albers&lt;/a&gt; (1888–1976) is best known for his series of paintings, &lt;em&gt;Homage to the Square&lt;/em&gt;, in which he endlessly explored color relationships within a similar format of concentric squares. Less well-known are the studies he made for these compositions. With approximately sixty oil sketches on paper, this exhibition will reveal a private side of Albers’s work. These sketches were never exhibited in the artist’s lifetime and have rarely been seen after his death. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt; On view will be early studies (1930s–early 1940s), studies for Albers’s &lt;em&gt;Adobe&lt;/em&gt; series, inspired by Mexican architecture (1940s–early 1950s), and studies for &lt;em&gt;Homage to the Square&lt;/em&gt; (1950s–1970s). These vibrant sketches provide insights into the artist’s working process and, in contrast with the austerity and strict geometry of the final paintings, are remarkable for their freedom and sensuality.&lt;/p&gt;

They occur mainly in sugary, acidic and/or alcoholic habitats and they play a positive, neutral, or detrimental role in foods and beverages. They are benign, non-pathogenic microorganisms ubiquitous in the environment, particularly in alcoholic ecological niches such as flowers, fruits, fruit flies, honey bees, and also in water and soil. They are generally found as spoilage organisms in alcoholic beverages. A. aceti has a long history of safe use in the fermentation industry for the production of acetic acid (vinegar) from alcohol. The lactobacilli were grown as colonies on an agar gel plate to remove the interference from the soy proteins. L. acidophilus has long cells whereas L. casei has short curved cells (shown in yellow). &lt;p&gt;&lt;span data-scayt_word="Formatosi" data-scaytid="1"&gt;Formatosi&lt;/span&gt; in letteratura e arte all`Accademia di Brera dal 1952 al 1956, dà al via alla propria carriera artistica negli anni 50 con mostre personali e collettive in gallerie e musei d`arte contemporanea segnalandosi come esponente di spicco dell`arte programmata e cinetica. Nel 1963 coordina il gruppo italiano “Nuove tendenze” &lt;span data-scayt_word="curandone" data-scaytid="2"&gt;curandone&lt;/span&gt; la mostra alla Biennale di Zagabria del 1965 e partecipando più volte a livello individuale alla Biennale di Venezia e alla Triennale di Milano. Negli stessi anni elabora approfonditi studi formali sulla percezione, la funzione e gli aspetti sociali del design avviando nel campo del disegno industriale un lungo sodalizio con Bruno Danese e quindi collaborando con numerose industrie per il lancio di marchi e prodotti. Convinto assertore che la bellezza di un oggetto non debba mai prescindere dalla sua funzionalità, conduce una continua ricerca e sperimentazione di nuove forme e significati del prodotto ponendosi spesso in contrapposizione con gli stilemi classici del disegno industriale. Il suo lavoro di artista-designer è premiato negli anni da numerose pubblicazioni, mostre e riconoscimenti (tra cui quattro Compassi d`oro). In tempi più recenti Enzo Mari si dedica anche alla ricerca e progettazione per l`arredamento urbano, alla pubblicazione di libri di design e per bambini, e alla didattica, con corsi universitari a Parma e a Milano e cicli di conferenze in Italia e all’estero. &lt;p&gt;Van Eyck, like his friends Peter and Alison Smithson, was fascinated by the relationship between the child and the postwar city. He joined the Department of City Development at Amsterdam Public Works in 1947, and in the decades that followed he designed more than seven hundred playgrounds for the city. These spaces, often created from derelict lots, incorporated sandpits, metal climbing frames, stepping stones, and small concrete divots to collect rainwater in abstract compositions. Van Eyck, who considered physical recreation an important part of children’s development, defined areas for free-form activity without being closed off from the surrounding community.&lt;/p&gt;

Photo: &lt;em&gt;Carlos da Silva&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;While studying for her medical degree at the Regia Università di Roma Sapienza–the first woman to qualify there–Montessori developed a particular interest in the creative potential of children with learning difficulties. From systematic analysis of these children’s play, she devised an activity-based teaching method that used material objects to stimulate their senses, and she believed that children should be allowed to explore these materials at their own pace. Montessori’s 1909 publication about her innovative methods developed an international following, which led to the establishment of schools based on her philosophies around the world.&lt;/p&gt;
